Thickness
Generally, the thickest boards (20mm and over) can be laid as a structural floor. This means these boards can be laid over the top of joists or batons. 20 to 22mm solid boards can also be laid directly over an existing wooden subfloor and glued to a concrete subfloor.
Our slimmer boards are more commonly used on floors where carpet is being replaced by wooden floors, as they can be laid over a plywood sub-floor. This can be achieved with our thicker boards, however room height and door clearance can sometimes be an issue. Made from the same high-quality wood, our thinner boards are just thick enough to provide stable flooring while being thin enough that loss of room height is minimal.
